​Affectionately known as the “Iron Hand in the Velvet Glove“, Randy knows how to push young athletes towards excellence. An All-Star Athlete in many sports himself, Smith has keen insight into body mechanics and muscular/skeletal balance. This depth of expertise sets him apart and above the majority of sports trainers.

Randy has amassed over the last 30+ years in the fitness business and nutrition. Randy is the owner of BODYSMITH Sports Performance Training Facility in Gormley, Ontario. He is the strength and conditioning coach for the Stouffville Spirit Jr. A Hockey team from 2003 to present. In their 2009-2010 season they won the North division, Northwest Conference Championships and made it to the Ontario finals. Randy has also been the strength and conditioning coach for various YSE teams and various Richmond Hill Coyotes Teams, Mississauga Reps and Jr. Canadians organizations.

Randy has trained numerous athletes who are serious about their sport from: NCAA, NHL, AHL, OHL, QMJHL, Tennis Canada, Field Hockey Canada, Mountain Bike Canada, Snow Board Canada, Ontario Ski Team, Hockey Canada U17, U18, World JR., Team Canada Trampoline, etc,. ensuring they take all the right steps to achieve their athletic dreams. He has created the perfect motivational atmosphere to develop strong and determined young athletes, while also maintaining a caring relationship with his clients.


BODYSMITH | Sports Performance Training

Randy is the owner and head trainer of BODYSMITH International, one of the top facilities that specializes in sports performance training and nutrition. Training programs are geared toward youth, high school, collegiate and professional athletes who are serious about improving their skills and overall performance in their specific sport.   Randy and the BODYSMITH International team provides young athletes an intense and competitive environment where athletes and trainers develop a strong relationship of trust and guidance. 


Over the years, Randy has trained many young athletes that have gone onto pursue professional athletic careers, some of these athletes include:

Steven Stamkos – from age 13 to his first year in the NHL. Currently plays for Tampa Bay Lightning.

Julian Melchiori – from age 12 to currently. Drafted in the 3rd round by Atlanta Thrashers of the 2010 NHL draft.

Trevor Carrick – drafted in the 4th round by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2012 NHL draft.

Michael Del Zotto – from age 13 to his first year in the NHL. Currently plays for New York Rangers.

Jeremy Helvig – started his training at the age of 16.  Drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 5th round in 2016.

Chris Tanev – started training at the age of 16, signed by the Vancouver Canucks in 2010.

Cliff Pu – started training at the age of 12, drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 3rd round in 2016.

John Mcfarland – ​from age 15 to currently. Drafted in the 2nd round by Florida Panthers of the 2010 draft.

Scott Kosmachuk – drafted in the 3rd round by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2012 NHL draft.
